The green transformation of society is a necessity and a chance for a better, healthier life, but it requires considerable financial resources. However, the financial possibilities of the state are limited. Therefore, the question arises whether we require sufficient financial participation in the costs of the green transformation from those who pollute the environment the most. If we burden people with higher costs, are we doing it fairly according to their ability to manage these expenses? And how can we ensure that the inevitable and necessary green transformation is as socially fair as possible? What does the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) “Tax the rich” propose?

In Banská Bystrica, the next event of the FEPS-FES-Proforum “Tax the rich” project will continue the discussion on tax and climate justice with Brigita Schmögnerová, Proforum President, Dušana Dokupilová, Energy poverty expert from the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Radoslav Kožiak, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Economy and Regional Development at the Faculty of Economics of the Matej Bel University, moderated by Robert ŽANONY, Policy Officer, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).

This event is part of the joint project of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), the Progressive Forum (Proforum) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) to raise awareness and collect the necessary signatures for the “Tax the rich” ECI in the Slovak Republic.

The panel discussion will be in Slovak. For more information on the event, please do not hesitate to contact Vanessa Zwisele, FEPS Project Officer (vanessa.zwisele@feps-europe.eu).
