We launched Europe’s most extensive youth-focused survey. The Builders of Progress final report launch event concludes a three-year research period, during which 19.000 young Europeans aged between 16-38 were surveyed.

The project follows the tradition of FEPS’s long-standing work on researching Millennials and expands it to include Generation Z.

During the event, we discussed the project’s results on various topics, including young people’s views on political participation, climate change, equality, and their preferences for EU policies. We also discussed the findings of the study on young people’s perspectives on the war in Ukraine, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the two generations.

Those unable to attend in presence had the opportunity to follow parts of the event via our online channels. The stream covered the keynote speech and the presentation of the report’s key findings.

Among our speakers:

  • Heléne Fritzon (Member of European Parliament, Vice-Chair S&D Group)
  • Alicia Homs Ginel (Member of the European Parliament, President of the Young European Socialists)
  • Mohammed Chahim (Member of the European Parliament)
  • Nils Fuglsang (Member of the European Parliament)
  • Conner Rousseau (Chairman of the social-democratic Flemish Vooruit Party)
  • Katarína Neveďalová (Vice President, Party of European Socialists)
  • Boon Breyne (Climate Justice Activist at Fridays For Future)
  • Caridad Sanchez (Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions)
  • Claudia Detsch (Director Friedrich-Ebert Foundation Just Climate Competence Centre)
  • Judit Lantai (Secretary General, Young European Federalists)
  • Panagiotis Chatzimichail (European Youth Forum, Board member)
  • Yolanda Gil (President of the Youth Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation, Board member), and many more.

The project is conducted by FEPS with the support of Anny Klawa-Morf Stiftung, Društvo Progressiva, Felipe González Foundation, Fondation Jean Jaurès, and the Party of European Socialists (PES), and in cooperation with ThinkYoung – the research organisation that has coordinated the surveys and examination of the findings.

If you wish to know more about the event, you can read the Twitter thread, take a look at our Instagram stories or watch the series of video pills including the main highlights of the survey. Pictures of the launch event are to be found here.
